Volunteer Opportunities
Many of our members contribute their time,
talents and efforts to help our club meet its goal of providing
interesting activities in an atmosphere of congeniality.
Essentially, we are a club where many people take leadership and
supporting roles, and these commitments, small and large, are also a
means of interacting with others in a meaningful way. Contact your
officers, activity leaders (always need backups and ideas), and
chairpersons to begin a volunteer role. Volunteering is the best
way to get to know your organization and its members.
Special request for homes for board meetings,
social and art parties, general meetings, potluck dinners, etc. Contact
Joanne P. Please indicate capacity and special
considerations.

Would
you like to carpool to your next OHGLA activity? Or get to know
people nearby with your interests?
The photo to the left of the small packet mounted
on bulletin board could help to build our membership with people
in your community. You may know of bulletin boards located in
places frequented by people who cherish congeniality and
activities in nature, skiing primarily, but also our hiking,
biking, kayaking/sailing and fun times. If you would like a
bulletin board packet filled with our cards that prompt people
to call Renate Colvin, Membership, or go to our website where
they can also become acquainted with our group and even download
a membership application, please let me, Marilyn T. know. I
will be happy to send you several packets – you would be
requested to service your “route” monthly to resupply the cards
and put up a new packet if a board has been cleaned. Just call
me or email. Thank you. Marilyn T. |
Would you like to park free at choice beach
parking lots???
Helen D.
has spread some sunshine by informing members of a Senior Pass that is
available for people over 62. Upon request you will receive a sticker
for your car windshield that never expires and allows you free Monday
through Friday (holidays excepted) parking at many
lots from Malibu to the South Bay. This will be sent to you with
a list of lots to use if you send your request along with a photocopy of
your car registration and drivers license to Beaches and Harbors, 13837
Fiji Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90290. The direct phone number there is
310-305-9503
If you would like to help the
Unrecables Ski Club (unlimited recreational activities) LA Chapter of
the Disabled Sports USA,
Ralph’s grocery store is paying 4% to non-profit clubs on each
customer’s club card purchase. This does not reduce the customer’s club
card discount and can be canceled at any time. D.B. L. is a member and
Helen and Chuck D. have been working with the disabled skiers. If
you would like to “give back” some of your “ski fun,” call Helen and
Chuck or email D.B.L. (bendydb@earthlink.net) with your
Ralph’s club card number and one of us will forward it to Ralph’s
special department. Ralph’s will keep the information, name, number and
address confidential and we’ll keep you informed of the needed special
adaptive equipment that is purchased with the funds. Thank you so
much!!! by Helen D. |
